“Massimo e Massimo” Booklet & Ephemera
Massimo e Massimo is ostensibly a multimedia project that my best friend Dakota Crane & I created together — the two of us are big fans of what we like to call “history laundering”, making up cool stuff that could plausibly have existed in some kind of alternate past. The EP purports to be a compilation of songs composed by the titular duo for various giallo & thriller film scores in the 1970s.
For the album itself, I produced & arranged the music (with Dakota’s invaluable input, being the resident giallo expert), & he wrote a bunch of amazing supplemental material to flesh out the concept. We rounded out the whole package with a digital booklet containing artwork & photos, production slugs, synopses of the films the songs are from, & lists of original session personnel. The end result is a glimpse into a mysterious, bygone era that never was.
Aside from designing the album cover & the layout for the booklet, I also created a bunch of ephemera to make the history feel more legit, including “productions stills” & “behind the scenes” photos repurposed from vintage stock sources & old magazines, an LP cover for the 1972 release of the soundtrack from Cruel Touch of the Endless Night, and a poster for the British theatrical release of Children of the Witches’ Elm.
